RIP Bun

Bun-Bun, my little dwarf rabbit, passed away Tuesday night.
He was 10 years old.
Blind in one eye, Bun spent his days chewing on stuff & flinging poo from his cage.
He will be missed.

Happy Valentine's Day!

and what a Valentine's Day it is.

This is the view from my balcony:

Yay! Freezing rain!! No signs of it stopping either:

So, I'm stuck inside. Not that staying in is any different from my usual day lately.

Figured I'd TRY and scrapbook a little (as long as bebeh cooperates). It seems like a good scrapbookin' day. Plus, my mind is swimming with ideas.

Of course, I had to dress Syd in her special 1st Valentine's Day outfit from her Aunt Kelly:

She looks much happier there than when I dressed her as a love bug for our Valentine e-card:

Ha!

I have a fabulous (I hope) menu planned for tonight's dinner: bleu cheese crusted filet mignon, spinach, mashed potatoes & chocolate fondue for dessert.

So, inspired by THIS BLOG I decided to make a special (small) Valentine's list of things I love today:

I LOVE:

*frosted sugar cookies
*when my mind is swimming with ideas I can't wait to get started
*when Corey does the 6 am feeding
*THIS POST & how so much has changed in 2 years (I hope).

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!

Frustrated...

Sydney's first trip to West Virginia is this weekend. We leave on Friday.
Of course, I decided that our little needed something cute to wear for when she meets the rest of her family. So last night I headed over to Gymboree.
When I got there, a very polite sales girl asked me if I was looking for anything in particular - I told her "Yes. Preemie sizes." She said: "Sure - I was just helping them (pointing to two 10-year-old girls) find preemie sizes, too."
I didn't think anything of it & picked out a cute outfit.
I tell the sales woman that I'm impressed at the preemie selection they had - much more than what I've seen in the past or in other stores. She goes on to tell me that they tend to sell out quickly because little girls buy them FOR THEIR DOLLS.
WTF? THAT'S the reason I can dress my daughter? Because some kid needs Gymboree clothes for her friggin' Baby Alive?
I was PISSED and voiced my opinion loud enough so the little girls & their mom could hear me.
So, in my rage, I posted about this on the NSBR board at Two Peas. I had a few Peas actually offer to mail me preemie clothes are to check their local Gymboree for preemie sizes. Peas look out for Peas. Thanks ladies!

Anger aside, I decided that I think I'll get THIS for Corey for Valentine's day. Perfect, huh?

Before I was a mom

Thanks to Sheila for this:

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on. (**let me add in my line of work, that's not necessarily true!)
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put them down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outsidemy body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the nightevery 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

Ouch

Poor baby! Sydney got her first of MANY immunizations on Saturday. FOUR shots & one oral vaccine. At first, I wasn't sure how Corey & I were going to handle it, but the nurse was fantastic. She gave the shots - 1 in one thigh, 3 in the other - quicker than Sydney could realize what was happening. She cried a bit, but was quickly comforted.
She also gained quite a bit of weight, the little piggy! She now weighs 7 lbs 7 oz - she gained 2 lbs in the last month.
